Based on archival research, this walking tour provides historical information available nowhere else in the Sandhills. Pinehurst is called "the home of American golf," yet its origin story has nothing to do with tees, greens, or driving irons. Discover how founder James Walker Tufts used his fortune to build a health resort for people of modest means, and hear about the famous caddies who helped golfers win tournaments.
